How to play

You need a World of Warcraft 3.3.5a client, the Deus Wow.exe and an account. About five minutes if you already have the client.

  1. Create your account

    The account you make here is the one you log into the game with. Create an account, or log in if you have one.

  2. Get a clean 3.3.5a client

    Any enUS Wrath of the Lich King client at version 3.3.5a, build 12340. The realm does not host the game itself. An untouched install works best; remove other servers' custom patch files from the Data folder first.

  3. Add the Deus client files

    Download the Deus client files (about 867 MB, a zip from GitHub) and unzip everything in its folder into your game folder, letting it replace the files there (keep a copy of your old Wow.exe if you like). Then start Wow.exe.

    From then on Wow.exe checks for updates every time you start it, and if a new patch comes out while you sit at the login screen it restarts itself to install it. It always connects to the Deus realm, so there is no realmlist to edit, and it clears the game's cache when the realm's data changes.

  4. Log in and build

    Start Wow.exe (not the launcher), log in, and create a character. Every character begins as a blank slate: press N to open the Deus window and buy your first abilities.
