Buy spells, not a class
Every level gives Ability Essence and, from level 10, Talent Essence. Spend them in any of the 27 trees: Frostbolt beside Mortal Strike, Stealth beside Rejuvenation. Keep up to 4 builds and switch between them out of combat.

What plays differently here
The world is the one you know. The rules for who you can be in it are not. Every feature, in detail
Every drop rolls a stat
Weapons and armour drop with one extra random stat, shown in purple, from +1 up to +10 on Naxxramas sets. It never re-rolls, so two copies of the same sword are not worth the same.
Everything can be traded
Raid epics, dungeon blues and crafted gear all go on the auction house. Only quest items stay bound. Both factions share one economy, groups and guilds.
The Wilderness takes what you carry
Home zones are protected and contested zones are safe at the inn. In the Wilderness anyone can attack anyone, and dying leaves a chest with part of your bags and gear for whoever opens it.
Racials are picked, not born
Choose one utility racial, one passive, one weapon specialization and one profession bonus from any race. A gnome can War Stomp.
Gold has places to go
Duel for a wager with a proper stake window, sit at the blackjack table in Gadgetzan, or spin the Book of Deus. Reset a build for gold or a Nexus Crystal.
One life, if you want it
Opt a fresh character into Ironman and it gets a single life. Fall, and the hall of fame records how far you got and what killed you.
A wardrobe and 341 cosmetics
Every look you equip is saved to an account-wide wardrobe. The Transmogrifier sells custom armour, weapons and mounts for gold; none of it adds power.
